Day 8 - La Sage to Grimentz
Unfortunately I woke up feeling very sick with a head cold/flu. I considered taking public transportation to the next stop, but it would have been 2 buses and a train, so I figured the cold, fresh air and some exercise might be the better option.
We had a lovely breakfast at the hotel and then headed out for the hike. Grant carried some of my clothes to lighten my load. ❤️
It was a long haul up a steep mountain, but the path was nice. It was like we were climbing up a rolling, hilly meadow.
Once we got to the top we had some great views of a couple of lakes, including the bluest glacier lake I’ve ever seen.
I had a fever as we were climbing, so you can see I was sweating it out. 😅
The views were incredible, but it was windy and cold at the top, so we didn’t stay for long.
Here you get a good view of the glacier that was filling the lake below.
We walked down for quite a while and eventually passed the Moiry dam. There was a restaurant that we considered stoppping at because we were running out of food, but since rain was projected we powered through to finish the day as soon as we could.
It was so incredible that I had a hard time not taking photos!
After we passed the lake, we had a long hike down, and eventually got to a place with a great view of Grimentz, our stopping point for the day.
That night we stayed at the Hotel Cristal, which had a decent sized room with a nice view.
As usual, not much was open for food when we got in at 3:30, but we were able to find a restaurant where we could have a late lunch. I rested afterwards, and we later had dinner at a fun Italian spot.
I saw this sign at the place where we had lunch, and even though I couldn’t get a good photo, I liked the sign.
