Day 10 - Saint-Luc to Turtmann-Unterems
We woke up around 8 AM after a pretty good night of sleep. I was still sick, so Grant carried my clothes for one last day. ❤️
We knew we were on the Planets trail, but this was the only one we saw before we were on a different trail.
We passed by some men working on the trail with an excavator while smoking a cigarette at the same time.
It was a climb to get to the pass, and it was a very rocky and desolate trail, but there was always a view of Hôtel Weisshorn behind us shining in the sun. We did see one cute frog jump across the trail and later we saw some marmots.
The rock formations of the top were very cool, and from there we headed downhill for the rest of the day.
We started with more alpine tundra, and eventually made it into a little bit of a densely forested area, where we saw some random teepees in a small town.
We could see the Hôtel Schwarzhorn as we approached the small town we were staying in for the night.
We made it into town early, but since we were staying in the dorm we were able to check in, even at 1:30pm. The best part was that we got to claim the best beds.
We also got showers without a line and the best “closet” space.
We went downstairs to have lunch, but the kitchen was closed, so instead we ate chocolate and had a spritz. It was chilly, so we got to use our beanies that we had been carrying and not using the entire time.
We had a 3 course dinner with a beautiful view.
As we were going to bed there was an Austrian guy (who was there with his daughter) that started clipping his toe nails in his bed. It was disgusting, and his daughter kept telling him to stop, but he continued.
Thankfully, this was the last night that we spent in a dorm room style accomodation. 😅
